Company Values. September 2026.
It's been over a year since I started Human Computer Lab and I have gained some scar tissue.
I have also been fortunate to observe and create good benchmarks through my previous roles and in building this company.
Here are a few values that we now embody and is what makes us unique.
Attack the real constraint.
Question from first principles. Be intentional.
Push back to get to truth. A good fight is worth it if it leads to a better outcome.
Be kind, not nice.
Hold yourself and others to a high standard, ask for help or give help when you or the team is not meeting the standard. Be the CEO of your domain/task.
Know the difference between acute and chronic pain. Run at the pain.
Get it done, then perfect.
Confront and address team mates directly. Honest criticism helps everyone grow.
Write things down. Writing creates coherence and leverage in decision making.
Find exceptional people and bring them onboard.
Change is good. It means innovation is happening.
Study success and dissect the attributes of what makes it successful. This is evident across elegant engineering, design and art.
Anchor on the “what we are doing” and “why” when things are unclear.
Communicate often and reply fast. Overcommunicate when needed, better to address things fully than leave anything open for interpretation.
To build something world class, you have to demand excellence.
